Recent studies have shown that almost 80% of the population in the United States is overweight or obese. This obesity epidemic has created an unhealthy society for not only adults, but for many children as well. The poor examples set by adults, through unhealthy eating and exercise habits, have created the obesity problems that exists among children.

It is time we do something about this!

I believe in the "LEARN" system of weight loss.

L Lifestyle: Change poor eating habits, keep food records, avoid situations of overeating.
E Exercise: Set reasonable goals; develop a regular plan of activity and exercise, any exercise is good, even a little.
A Attitudes: Enjoy your goal of weight loss, always feel you could do it, and avoid “all or none” thinking.
R Relationships: Find support from others and ask for help from your family and friends.
N Nutritional Supplements: There are many on the market, but do they all work?

Which one is for me?

As a consumer you must research and understand the mechanism and components of these products. Always consult your Physician prior to taking any dietary supplement.

After researching various diet products on the market, I have found that many have the same thing in common. Many of these diet products make outrageous claims of instant weight loss and guarantee that perfect body. Many diet supplements contained ephedrine, a drug that the FDA has now banned from the market because of its dangerous side effects on the heart and blood pressure. Newer diet products on the market now contain Synephrine, also known as bitter orange. Synephrine’s molecular structure is almost identical to ephedrine. It has the same dangerous side effects as its cousin, without being as effective for weight loss. Studies performed in Europe have shown that Synephrine increases blood pressure and increases the workload of the heart. A recent article in Forbes Magazine called “Poison Pills” discusses this issue. There is a new diet supplement product now in the market. It is called xLA and it does not contain ephedrine or Synephrine. xLA's active ingredients include the revolutionary R (+) Alpha-lipoid acid (R-ALA), Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), vitamin C and various teas. These ingredients, in combination, help stimulate energy expenditure, reduce body fat, decrease bloating and at the same time increase lean body mass.
